Trip to Devon, England and the feast of plenty of traditional villages of the Devonian

Devon is a county of great beauty and a popular destination for British tourists and foreign visitors. The landscape varied and interesting cities and towns offer both the traveler and their location in the southwestern corner of the country gives a milder climate compared to the rest of England. In fact, it is known as the south coast English Coast!

As elsewhere in the United Kingdom, County Devon is rich in history and there are items of evidence scattered across the landscape and its major cities and towns. Most visitors to Devon, arrived at the stations of resorts like Torquay, Paignton and Dawlish, but much more for the visitor of the region, although each has the famous Devon cream tea!

The Exeter City Gateway is a dynamic destination in itself with a buzz of the university population and plenty to see and do. The city dates back to Roman times and once was a bastion of the Roman garrison called ISCA. There are some vestiges of that bygone era and a lot of local results can be obtained from the small but interesting Royal Albert Museum. The city has many attractions in a relatively compact with the great Norman cathedral looking over everything. In the courtyard of the cathedral, is the Clarence Hotel, which is widely known as the first hotel in England.

Near the cathedral is the preferred place to eat Northernhay Rougemont Castle and Gardens, which is a lovely place to stroll and enjoy the medieval ruins and the place of the suspended last witch ever in the country. Right next to the entrance of Rougemont medieval castle underground passages and guided tours are offered throughout the week, which is surprisingly pleasant.

Exeter Quayside has been reorganized in recent years and is now a popular place to spend an afternoon with the pubs, but very typical and popular restaurants. It is also home to the majority of Nightlife and Exeters Friday and Saturday nights can be quite noisy.

Outside the capital of the province there is plenty to see and the huge shadow that is Dartmoor Moorland is a destination popular for hikers and is world famous Sherlock Holmes story, the "Hounds of the Baskervilles".

It is easily accessible from Exeter and many people go to most locations accessible by two bridges and Hay Tor. The Moors were covered in mounds of Bronze Age and history buffs will delighted by the discovery of forgotten site while walking through the misty landscape. Note, however, Dartmoor is famous for its changing weather conditions and is easy to lose. Visitors should remember to take a map and a compass and someone knows where they go.

South Devon is As mentioned earlier a tourist destination and can become very busy during peak season like summer and Easter. With beautiful Long sandy beaches and beach activities typically English, which has much to offer families. What a great number of visitors will forget But there is plenty of history in this part of the county. Dartmouth Castle - a great strength in the previous time, and the popular Berry Pomeroy Castle near Totnes, is locally believed that the most haunted castle in the UK.

Further down the coast of Plymouth is the place where U.S. forces engaged since the invasion of Normandy during World War II. Here, hundreds Slapton Sands of American Soldiers was killed when a German E-boat attack while conducting an exercise in preparation for landing landing.

It is also here that is the abandoned village of Halls Sands. It was abandoned in 1917 when the sea has had on land that was once protected by a large pebble beach. Rather stupid the Government of the time, allowed a private company to dredge the land value for herpes zoster and its result was to leave the sea, once thriving community in a village ghost successfully. Down stairs to the settlement in ruins is a bit risky, but walking among the ruins is a dark and interesting experience.

Just within this Part of the Devonshire coast is Buckfastleigh, which is on the way from Plymouth to Dartmoor. It is a market town and is quite frequented mainly by Buckfast Abbey is an abbey in ruins that was originally built in the ninth century.

North Devon is not as popular as the South, as its coast is generally more robust than its counterpart, but has its attractions. And share with Somerset Exmoor, Clovelly is a beautiful town Little Harbor which is very popular, in fact (if it is quiet at night), two of the best surf spots in the country in Croyde and Braunton and Ilfracombe is larger North Sea should station. Lundy Island is located in the Bristol Channel, North Devon coast is a paradise for Hikers who want to see nesting birds have made the island famous locally.

For there is an abundance of Devonian dispersed traditional villages in the region and it is really nice to take a reader to discover for yourself. A very nice area is around Ottery St Mary in East Devon, there are many safe houses chocolate and small narrow roads. Ottery St Mary herself is a popular place to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night Traditional English in November, when it occurs the event in a barrel of tar. Local men set fire to a barrel of tar and take turns on their backs around the city until it burns to nothing. Can sound strange - but it's a really excellent evening and a celebratory mood.

There are many hotels and guest houses throughout the county and especially in schools South's most popular tourist resorts, but they can be reprimanded in the summer. Exeter, the capital of the province a few houses and little bizarre if you is willing to expand its budget, then the Clarence Hotel on the basis of the Cathedral is a beautiful place.

Devon is well connected with the rest of the country, with a rail and road through the country's west and north and east. Exeter Airport is growing every year and is bound by low cost airlines to many destinations in Europe and the United Kingdom.

Some flights to the U.S. and Canada, but they are few and far between. It would be better for visitors Hemisphere South and North America to fly to London and then travel to the West than by land or premises of many of the flights available.

Flights to London are scheduled almost every country imaginable ... USA Vol From $ 300 to U.S. East Coast and about $ 400 on the west coast.

Flights to Australia and New Zealand will be At around NZ $ 2000 and $ 2500.

Trains between London and Exeter will cost around £ 60 return, but booking ahead, find a better offer. National links National Express bus service to Exeter and if you can endure the trip will cost around £ 30 Back.

Britain's currency Pound Stirling is divided into 100 pence.
