India's best films screened at the London Film Festival that promotes world films, that may not be available for research in theaters across the country. The festival is an important site for the development and promotion of films from the United Kingdom and abroad. Some of these films in India are discussed below:
"Frozen" Shivajee Chandrabhushan / India: "Frozen" is a story told from the perspective of a young girl.
Frozen is a film that makes the audience frozen in their seats until the end credits go! It is the splendor of the landscape in black and white and the head restraint in the conduct of conflict between individuals and society. Frozen Karma tells the story of an aging father and his teenage daughter lasya Chomo his "little brother" and the story is told through the eyes of lasya. The action takes place in Ladakh, the Indian side of Jammu-Kashmir, the border, 15,000 feet of altitude in freezing conditions below 30 degrees. Lasya grew up watching his father make apricot jam market and sell their products locally. Unfortunately, it is capable of competing with others in the trade, because the machines used to make jam. Karma is in financial ruin, having to borrow from unscrupulous lenders. Their lives are shattered by the mere arrival of the army that protects the borders and established a camp near his home. Karma is asked to bring their children and abandon their ancestral home, which brings it closer to the breaking point. Amid all this, Lasy become in a very attractive woman and a local boy she is interested in Romeo. The title is quite appropriate for the film, because it reflects the topography and landscape. At the same time, time, reflecting the slow, almost frozen state of mind of his characters. Even the traditional festival of the bells and wheels magically appears frozen in time and stripped of its color. It was not until the end we understand that the child is not real. Images in black and bright golden yellow outside the wire is much cruelty and harshness of life, which covers the change and a better life. It is the first film Shivajee Chandrabhusan, which demonstrates how a simple story can be transformed into a powerful hypnotic film. Photo Shanker Raman is at his best, and ice-hockeyscene is perhaps the first in Indian cinema. Music by John P. Varkey of Kerala brings warmth to the frozen landscape. This is also the 150th Danny Denzongpa film and gave his best performance. Gouri in his first appearance showed a great capacity to Angchuk act and that the boy is a delight to see. A must for all movie lovers!
Maheke: K Kanade / India
The film tells the story of 12-year-old Maheke spends most of his time daydreaming. In his dreams, he reached the top of all that she wants to be, but in real life, is a sub-Achiever both at home and at school. She wants to be on top, but at the same time she also believes it is unable to achieve its objectives, a kind of emotional block! This leads to her mother's dream of a "fairy god" that helps to analyze your strengths. She goes into depression and, finally, The director shows how to overcome. This film is a lesson for parents and children and even a warning to parents to be more attentive to their children to avoid situations like this. Exquisite Performance Shreya Sharma as Maheke and a must for all children and parents!
The Last Lear, Rituparno Ghosh / India
The Last Lear tells the story of an old Shakespearean stage actor coming out of retirement to act in 'The Mask', a movie in another movie. And it is certainly a movie "Bachan, as not much time amitab Bachan is removed from the equation! Bachan shows mastery in performance to the end, and compelling presence make the audience glued to the chair! Only other players to do justice to their characters are Vandana (Shefali Shah) and Siddarth, 'to resemble to John Abraham (Arjun Rampal). If there is a "chemistry" in the film is between Harish (amitab) and Siddarth during their first meeting! Amitab teaches theater Shabanam (Preity Zinta) and thought it was really good!
The film starts well. You Premiere Night of 'The Mask' on the day of Diwali, Harish is absent, as it is in a coma. Harish (amitab), an old Shakespearean stage actor is forced out of retirement to act as a disfigured (clown of a scar in the face!) by young director Siddharth. Vandana is the long-term partner Shabnam is Harish and his lead actress, and it is interesting conversation between two women when Shabnam was present in the house while in a coma Harish and can not recognize one of them. Shefali offers a brilliant performance and it's a shame it was not the protagonist of the film but his game has proven to be! Except for quotations from Shakespeare and the indication of Harish is an old Shakespearean stage actor who loves Shakespeare comedy I could not see much in the movie to justify the title. Amitab Bachan bigger than life and beautiful with her long white hair and, of course, her incredible voice is captivating as always! Arjun Rampal and Shefali Shah very promising. Bachan amitab enchanted the audience with his speech and a "face to face with the audience after the film. "A film amitab Bachan, for all the fans there Bachan!
Four women: Adoor Gopalakrishnan / India
Adoor Gopalakrishnan's latest film four women, around four women in four different stories, without continuuity except for the theme. The film is based on four Thakazhi stories Sivasankar Pillai name (easily recognizable in India as Shakespeare and Wordsworth in the West) and Adoor your journey through the lives of four women in the company status spans two decades since 1940: the prostitute, the virgin, the housewife and girls.
The prostitute tells the story of a woman who changed his profession to live with a man who loves and then ends up in jail. His challenge to the judge saying they are the husband and the woman was very touching and Adoor clearly shows the atrocities of legal system at the time or even now.
The Virgin is about an elderly father to get his daughter married to a man who should not, without even consulting. Man has no interest to his wife and is almost comical to see his passion in life, the food! He leaves his wife home and never returns. Then there are rumors in the village blamed the daughter of the rupture. She decides she is tired and everyone talks about the challenges he has never had a wedding and go!
The housewife is a woman who lost your baby a few days after birth and refuses the advances of a former classmate who said her husband is responsible for their situation, the moral values of the women are respected here.
The old woman tells the story of a woman who has suffered so much subject that is left behind, while his brother and two sisters married minors. Life becomes a real punishment after the disappearance of her mother and she had to live with his sister, almost like a servant. Finally, decide to live alone in her old house left to her when her mother died. The contempt in his voice was very clear when he told his sister that she wanted to be with someone, and prefer their own.
Adoor has raised moral and social issues in the poetry of this "moving" and succeeded in demonstrating the power of women in changing society. Although these stories take place there most of 6O years, the theme of conflict is still relevant, especially in small towns. Women are not ready to be submitted over of them and fight for what they believe in all these women are trapped in their own struggle for survival, docile and passive at first, but eventually everyone makes a choice, independently of the will of society or the rest of the family. A beautiful film that can change people's attitudes on various issues in our society: a need for everyone!
